Transitioning into Fall Fashion

HOW TO SMOOTHLY TRANSITION YOUR WARDROBE FROM SUMMER TO FALL TRENDS

Incorporating athleisure into one's wardrobe is a strong trend that is not going anywhere anytime soon. This is a very convenient trend, because it allows the wearer to participate in multiple activities without having to change outfits. Athleisure is also convenient for the wearer who wants to be comfortable, while staying current with fashion trends.

With September quickly approaching, fall fashions have been creeping into clothing stores. The vast selection of new styles can be intimidating, but we are here to help! The following trends and tips will help to update your look without having to purchase a whole new wardrobe.

SUMMER 2017 TRENDS

This summer was all about being bold and having a strong voice through fashion. Trends consisted of:

  • 80's-inspired neon hues

  • Empowering graphic slogan tees

  • Military-inspired

(fashionisers.com)

Neon is a common trend for the summer season, especially within athletic-wear, however, this trend was updated in 2017 by incorporating silhouettes like off-the-shoulder and over-sized looks to give it an '80s vibe (fashionisers.com).

Slogan tees have been used as an innovative way for fashionistas to advocate for their beliefs this summer, and the trend was even seen on the runway from brands like Stella McCartney and Dior (fashionisers.com).

Military-inspired fashion is a trend that keeps showing up on the runway. This trend originated in the 1940s during World War II as a sign of support for those serving in the military. This look is now a classic fashion staple. A recent update to this trend is camouflage print showing up on the runway. This print hasn't been this on trend since the early 2000s (fashionisers.com).

FALL 2017 TRENDS

Trends for this fall still have an empowering theme, while incorporating earthy tones and athleisure influences. This season's trends consist of:

  • Vibrant red

  • Tracksuits

  • Chocolate brown

(thefashionspot.com) (elle.com)

Red is an interesting trend this season because it is usually not thought of for fall in such a vibrant hue. Maroons and burgundies are more common for this time of year, as they are more reminiscent of the falling leaves. For this season, the color red is a symbol of power. Designers who have embraced this trend include Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, and Fendi to name a few (elle.com).

It has been several years since matching tracksuits have been considered high fashion. This style has been updated since Juicy Couture dominated the market: this season, designers such as Marc Jacobs, Versace, Yeezy, Fenty Puma by Rihanna, and Lacoste have embraced this look (elle.com). This trend is huge for the athleisure industry, because it keeps the trend current in the new season.

Chocolate brown is another trending color on the runways for this fall (thefashionspot.com). The rich, warm shade is a fresh update to classic tan and beige hues for fall. Designers such as Emilio Pucci, Moschino, and Max Mara are examples of designers who rocked this look on the runway (elle.com).

HOW TO INCORPORATE OLD WITH NEW

The following tips are ways to incorporate summer trends with updated fall trends with your athleisure pieces:

  1. Switch out bright neon hues with vibrant shades of red - This will keep color in your wardrobe, and prevent falling into a neutrals slump when fall approaches.

  2. Break up your tracksuit by incorporating a slogan tee to create interest - This is a way to continue speaking your mind while staying on trend. A way you could do this fashionably could be to take an oversized slogan tank, tie it in a knot at the waist, and wearing it cropped with high-waisted track pants and a matching track jacket worn open. You can dress up this look by wearing heeled ankle boots instead of sneakers.

  3. Incorporate your military-inspired camouflage with chocolate brown accents to update the look - This can be done by wearing a chocolate brown bomber jacket over a matching tank with camouflage-printed joggers.

**We hope these suggestions give you inspiration for updating your style for the fall season! There are so many ways to show your own personal style - don't let the suggestions above limit you!**
